Christmas Party 2009

I am pleased to report that Special Olympics Chilliwack held another successful Christmas Dinner on the 11th December 2009. The event was held at the Lions Club hall on Spadina and all who attended had a great time. We had 87 guests, athletes and families, friends who were feasted with a fine meal of roast beef, potatoes and mixed vegies. Volunteers assisted with the meal, table service of course. Cooking and all arrangements were in the hands of the Christmas Dinner committee chaired by Peggy Ward and Laurette and all their little elf assistants. Santa Claus was a big draw again this year. We hope he repeats his presence next year. Santa stayed a while and took pictures with the athletes and guests. Laurette, Peggy and Jacques assisted with setting up the hall on Friday afternoon. Executive members also helped in other capacities. All in attendance took the opportunity to have seconds and of course enjoyed the desserts afterwards. The evenings entertainment was provided by Len Jones of Phat Boyz music company and the athletes enjoyed showing off their dance routines. All expenses and revenues were accounted for and tabulated, a financial statement will be issued by Jacques. Members that came, did so with a food item for our donation to the food bank at Ruth and Naomi’s food kitchen. Letters of thanks for donations and courteous service provided to Special Olympics Chilliwack will be sent out this week.(Of note: Hoffstede’s, Johnson’s meats, SKT Farms, Santa Claus). Thank you one and all who made the function a success. We wish all a Merry Christmas.
